Culture in Your Community Fest!
Sunday 7th September, 12-4pm
Asta Community Hub 14a Camel Road Silvertown E16 2DE
Join the Momentum Project, the Asta Community Hub and volunteers from National Citizen’s Service with The Challenge at our Cultural Community Celebration day.
Add your photo to our Royal Docks world map, contribute to a global patchwork quilt and participate in dance and singing workshops. All ages are welcome. Food and refreshments will be provided too!
On Saturday 26th July, Pier Parade was transformed into a community market. Local people set up over 20 market stalls and began trading. They were joined by two of their Royal Docks Councillors, the brilliant RDLAC line dancers and the very inspiring and very sweet Royal Docks Singstars - who gave an excellent performance of Pharrel’s HAPPY. It was wonderful to watch such home grown local talent :)
The Momentum Project were there too - offering a free (but not very expert) nail salon and inviting the kids to let their imaginations run wild - whilst decorating cup cakes and biscuits with images from their dreams.
It was a beautiful day for everyone in the community and we cannot wait for the next one :)
Momentum joins The Future Watches the Airport
11am, Monday 21st July
Meet at 10.30am at the Roz Café, Pier Parade, E16 2LJ (see map)
LONDON CITY AIRPORT wants to expand. In July Newham Council will decide whether to let them.
The Airport has already outgrown its Docklands location. More expansion will mean more noise, more air pollution and more heavy traffic in the streets near the airport.
Meanwhile proposals to revive the Royal Docks by replacing the airport with sustainable developments are gathering support: http://www.neweconomics.org/publications/entry/royal-docks-revival
On Monday 21st July at 11am - the week that Newham Council will make their decision - action group The Future we will go and watch the airport.
The Momentum Project will join them in drawing a circle around our eyes to show that we are watching those with power and that we will judge them if they choose the toxicity of London City Airport over the health of local people and of London.
Groups of people from around the world have worn this symbol to show that we stand united for The Future.

HacanEast, campaigners against noise and air pollution caused by aviation, are organising an Election Hustings - our chance to quiz candidates standing in Newham what they’ll do for the Royal Docks, and ask them how seriously they take clean air and improving quality of life in the Docks.

Thanks North Woolwich and Silvertown residents, we had such a great time Saturday!
Agatha and Janette made delicious cakes and Food For All prepared an incredibly tasty meal using exceeding produce donated by supermarkets.
We also had good food for thoughts as result of our public consultation.
What do we wish for our community? What do we want to see implemented?
Lots of great dreams to transform into reality in 2013!
